Primary Duty/Job StatementThe Accountant performs accounting activities that are complex and broad in nature, specializing in the general ledger and financial reporting functions.
Essential Functions
- Fundamental Duties
- Period and year end closing duties such as GAAP journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, statement preparation, and distribution of financial reports
- Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for multiple private entities
- Manage fixed asset tracking and reconciliation including construction in progress
- Utilization of multiple interfaces and software programs
- Provide support to auditors during audits and year end processes
- Document procedures and maintain/enhance internal controls
- Review, verify, and record year-end tax adjustments
- Prepare variance analysis by researching and interpreting data
- Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
- Prepare and create ad-hoc requests and special projects
- Research accounting questions as needed
- Prepare documentation for tax accountants
- Utilize PDI Enterprise, Sage FAS, Sage CIP, and Sales Tax Programs
- Relate knowledge of business and accounting practices, policies, regulations and procedures, and accounting systems to the needs of the business
- Create archives of financial documentation in repository
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy
- Process vendor payments weekly
- Oversee year end 1099 process
- Audit and process company credit card bills
- Perform vendor analysis, expense review and analysis and support procurement functions
- Serve as a resource to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Fuel Billing teams for assistance and troubleshooting
- Assist fuel pricing with troubleshooting pricing errors or issues
- Assist fuel pricing when contracts are renegotiated or fuel blends change for different seasons
- Assist fuel pricing to ensure contract pricing is correct.
- Maintain relationships with external vendors and internal departments
- Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Participate in internal and external audits
